Program Options

Running
FALL / WINTER / SPRING
Running is fun, affordable, and easy to learn. It helps kids improve in other sports, have strong role models, and encourages healthy friendships. The brain stimulation caused from running provides access to areas of the brain that allow us to feel vulnerable with others. This matters because young girls between the ages of 8-15 have a lot of stressors, and this is the perfect age to encourage self-exploration and positive peer relationships.
Trail Running
SPRING
Trail running is an opportunity to access the surrounding mountains with friends and mentors. With a focus on making trail running fun, participants will learn proper running form for gaining and losing elevation as well as trail etiquette, and safety.
Spring 2023 Registration Opens 3/6/23 at 8 am
Registration opens on March 6th at 8 am, inquiries prior to this time will not allow entry to the registration site.

GRM Trail Camp
Open to all genders ages 8-15 years. Spend the week running on Missoula trails, learning orienteering skills, and participating in leadership workshops. Youth will tackle challenging fitness goals while exploring personal strengths, values, and passions. Topics include proper trail running form, stewardship, safety and etiquette, wilderness first aid, nutrition, and strength and agility training. Trail runs will include the completion of an orienteering route. Orienteering involves running through terrain while navigating with a map and compass to specific checkpoints. The sport teaches adaptable decision-making, empathy, confidence, and persistence alongside physical effort, map-reading, and individual and team-based problem-solving. On the final day of camp, all participants will participate in a friendly competition to show off their newfound orienteering skills, fitness, and confidence to accept challenging tasks. All trail runs and workshops are facilitated by professionals.

Strength Training
WINTER
Strength impacts nearly all physical endeavors.GRM follows the Brand X Method approach to youth strength training. Created in 1999, the foundation of the Brand X Method programming is to do what’s best for kids by improving their ability to interact with any environment. This means building physical competence, confidence, and motivation so that youth feel the freedom and fearlessness to tackle all physical tasks throughout life. Making children good movers through strength training will allow them to feel confident in themselves and therefore motivated to do movement throughout the rest of their lives.
