Program Overview

Go Run Missoula is an 6-week program offered once a week at various locations around Missoula. Sessions occur in the fall, winter, spring, and summer. Led by qualified professionals, we run, strength train, set fitness goals, and develop leadership skills. Each session includes community races, trail runs, weight lifting, yoga, obstacle courses, and running games.

After School Running

OFFERED ALL SEASONS.
Female and non-binary youth only.
After School Running focuses on building a love of running while teaching core skills such as proper form, pacing, speed, and strength. The program is designed to help participants develop confidence, improve technique, and create a strong foundation for lifelong enjoyment of running. These programs are typically offered after school on-site, at the YMCA, and at Playfair Field.

Trail Running

OFFERED ALL SEASONS.
Female and non-binary are all seasons and all-gender is offered in the summer, spring, and fall.
Trail Running introduces participants to the unique skills and responsibilities of running outdoors. The program emphasizes trail stewardship, wildlife awareness, and safety practices for both trails and roads, while also helping runners build mileage, improve pacing, and increase their confidence with distance. Participants develop the skills needed to run safely, responsibly, and comfortably in a variety of outdoor settings.

Trail and Road Running

OFFERED ALL SEASONS.
Female and non-binary are all seasons and all-gender is offered in the summer, spring, and fall.

GRM Summer Camps

SUMMER

Offered at various outdoor locations in Missoula, activities include strength training, leadership workshops, trail running, community service, and obstacle courses. Choose from an overnight camping trip, our June marathon camp, orienteering, strength training, and more.

Strength Training focuses on age-appropriate agility, flexibility, and strength-building activities designed specifically for youth. The program helps participants develop body awareness, coordination, and confidence while building a strong foundation for healthy, lifelong movement.

Art + Run (NEW!)

OFFERED WINTER.
Female and non-binary only.

Art + Run is designed for creative youth who also enjoy running and want a more relaxed, balanced version of a traditional running program. Participants can expect a mix of artistic expression, light strength circuits, 2–3-mile runs, and sprinting drills, all woven together in a fun, approachable way.

Program Goals

  • Through participation in GRM, youth will develop the ability, confidence, and desire to be physically active.
  • Through participation in GRM, youth will establish healthy relationships with their families, peer groups, and community.
  • Through participation in GRM, youth will see increases in confidence at home and in school.
  • Through participation in GRM, youth will experience increases in academic performance at school.
